At JJ's Helping Paws, we care deeply about the animals and people in our community. However, as an entirely volunteer-run nonprofit organization, our time, funding, and resources are limited.
We are currently experiencing an extremely high volume of phone calls, many requesting services that fall outside our mission. While we understand that people are often facing difficult circumstances, we simply cannot provide assistance with every animal-related situation.
Our programs focus on:
Please understand that JJ's Helping Paws:
For injured animals or emergencies, please contact animal control or the Fremont County Sheriff's Office at 719-276-5555.
For pet food assistance, please contact Colorado Pet Pantry.
Our shelter, Molly's Place, is open by appointment only.
Effective immediately, calls requesting services outside our programs will not be returned.
Our volunteers receive dozens of calls daily. Returning calls for assistance we cannot provide takes valuable time away from the animals and families our programs are designed to serve.
Calls concerning our available services will continue to be returned as volunteer availability permits. Please allow at least two days for a response.
Cat rehoming requests are reviewed and prioritized based on urgency and individual circumstances, not the order in which calls are received.
We also ask our community to help by sharing accurate information about our services.
When recommending JJ's Helping Paws to someone seeking animal assistance, please ensure their needs align with the programs we provide.
A well-intentioned referral to the wrong organization can create false hope for someone seeking help while placing additional demands on our volunteers.
Our inability to help with every situation does not reflect a lack of compassion. It reflects the limits of our resources and our responsibility to the animals already depending on us.
Thank you for respecting our volunteers' time, understanding our limitations, and supporting the mission of JJ's Helping Paws.
We will be adding additional resources in the coming weeks.
